As part of the research and trading team, Ian is responsible for developing key risk models used to minimize risks within a portfolio. He has played a key role in establishing risk measuring criteria to ensure appropriate risk is taken given the various funds’ investment mandates. He has also established internal processes to prevent and detect trading errors and reduce operational risks associated with the trading process.
His strong background of equity, futures, and currency valuation techniques contributes to the overall portfolio management process. Ian Clark joined Salida Capital in April 2006 bringing with him over 4 years of industry experience. Ian first joined Salida as part of the operations team supporting fund valuations, settlements, reporting,and portfolio management process. After obtaining his CFA Charter in 2008, Ian became increasingly involved in the investment process, including trading, risk management, and research.
Prior to joining Salida Ian worked at State Street Canada within the middle office where he managed a team of nine individuals responsible for the process of cash settlement, discrepancy investigations, and compensation claims for various types of market transactions. He was also responsible for developing and reviewing risk reports in order to minimize operational costs associated with exceptions held on primary nostro accounts to ensure appropriate overnight funding. Before joining this team, Ian began his career working in State Street’s settlements department as part of a 16 month internship program while completing an undergraduate commerce degree.
